Outlaw Music Festival Lineup Announced

Willie Nelson, Bob Dylan, Robert Plant & Alison Krauss and John Mellencamp (plus others) – are all set to play the touring Outlaw Music Festival in the US this summer. 25 shows have been announced, using various combinations of those artists, starting June 21 in Alpharetta GA. Brittney Spencer, Celisse and Southern Avenue will open select shows.

Music Time Capsule Goes to the Moon!

The Who and Jimi Hendrix are among the slew of musicians whose digitized music was included in a time capsule on the Odysseus space craft, which touched down on the moon February 22. The time capsule features music from 222 artists, also including Elvis Presley, Santana, Pink Floyd, Marvin Gaye, Bob Marley, and Chuck Berry.

Paul McCartney's Hall of Fame Vote for Foreigner

Mick Jones’ stepson Mark Ronson continued his campaign to help get the group voted into the Rock Hall of Fame on Monday, visiting Jimmy Fallon with a video showing support from Paul McCartney. The Beatle was seen in his car, saying: “Foreigner not in the Hall of Fame? What the [BLEEP]?” 

 

 

Billy Joel and Sting Tour

Billy Joel and Sting kicked off their “One Night Only” co-headlining tour on Sat. in Miami, with both artists popping up during the other’s set to help out on a classic song. Sting’s set opened with a rendition of the Police’s ‘Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic’ featuring Joel. And during Joel’s set, Sting appeared onstage to take the lead on ‘Big Man on Mulberry Street’. 

 

 

 John Mellencamp to be Honored at Bruce Springsteen Archives

He, Jackson Browne, Dion Dimucci and Mavis Staples will be honored at the Bruce Springsteen Archives and Center for American Music’s second annual American Music Honors. The event will take place April 24 in West Long Branch NJ, the home of the Bruce Springsteen Archives.

The Beatles Movies in Progress

Now that it’s been announced that Sam Mendes will direct 4 movies about them, speculation has begun about who’ll play the Fab Four. Here are Variety’s suggestions: Daisy Jones & The Six’s Sam Claflin as John Lennon. Jacob Elordi (‘Elvis Presley’ in “Priscilla”) is one of its picks for Paul McCartney, as is Tom Holland. For George Harrison, it offers up Timothée Chalamet. And “Saltburn’s” Barry Keoghan and Daniel Radcliffe are suggested to play Ringo Starr.

Mick Jones Comments on his Diagnosis

Founding guitarist Mick Jones has revealed he was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease “several years ago”. The group is currently on its farewell tour, but Jones has not performed with them since 2022. In a statement, he said: “I am doing alright. I’ve always liked to be at my best when performing onstage, and sadly, at present, I find that a bit difficult.”

 

 

Usher Back on the Billboard Top 200

Following his Super Bowl halftime show on Feb. 11, 4 of his previous albums are now on the Billboard 200 chart, alongside the debut of his new LP “Coming Home” at #2. Former #1 “Confessions”, released in 2004 is at #15, followed by 2010’s “Raymond V Raymond” at #68, 2001’s “8701” (#122), and 1997’s “My Way”, at #197. The 4 albums feature songs that Usher performed during his halftime show.

50 Years of AC/DC

 

To honor their 50th anniversary, Columbia Records has announced it will release the band’s catalog as gold-colored vinyl LPs. Each limited-edition record comes with an album-specific print featuring new artwork, suitable for framing. They’re available for pre-order now. 

Oasis Solo Tour

Liam Gallagher claims he approached his brother Noel about reforming the group for a 2024 tour celebrating the 30th anniversary of their debut album “Definitely Maybe”. He told Stereogum: “It was a big tour, a lot of money. He turned it down.” Instead, Liam is celebrating the album on a solo tour.

 

 

'Halen Brothers' Book to be Released

HarperCollins Publishers has announced an October 22 release date for Alex Van Halen’s book “Brothers”. Not many details so far, but the 384-page book is categorized under “Biography & Autobiography” and is available for pre-sale for $32.00.

Ozzy Leads Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Vote

Ozzy Osbourne was the clear leader in the first week of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan voting for 2024. As of Sunday afternoon, Ozzy had 116,000 votes, ahead of Peter Frampton (96,000), Foreigner (95,600), Dave Matthews Band (93,000), Cher (82,000), Lenny Kravitz (71,000), and Mariah Carey (60,000).

Rod Stewart Bringing in BIG Money for Catalogue

Rod Stewart has sold his back catalogue for close to $100million. He reached an agreement with Irving Azoff’s Iconic Artists, meaning the company now owns his publishing catalogue, recorded music and a stake of Stewart’s likeness and image rights. The company has previously purchased the back catalogues of The Beach Boys, Cher and Dean Martin.

Brian Wilson's Dementia Worsens

Visionary Brian Wilson is suffering from dementia, and is unable to care for himself after the death of his wife and manager, his family claims. His team has applied to place him under a conservatorship, with the promise that the 81-year-old will remain free to do anything he wants.

 

Bee Gees Biopic In the Works

Director Ridley Scott, best known for such films as “Thelma & Louise” and “Gladiator”, is in talks to oversee the upcoming Paramount Pictures biopic about the group. Scott recently completed directing a sequel to Gladiator, which is set for release this November.

Nickelback Documentary

“Hate to Love: Nickelback”, the feature documentary about the group that premiered at last year’s Toronto Film Festival, will play for 2 nights only in theaters around the world on March 27 and 30. Tickets go on sale Thursday.

 

 

Revolutionary Women In Music

Beyoncé and Joan Jett are 2 of the artists who will be saluted in the Roll Hall of Fame’s newest exhibit “Revolutionary Women In Music: Left of Center,” set to open on March 8. Also being feted for their careers, which “empowered women to realize and embrace their authentic selves”, will be Siouxsie Sioux, Queen Latifah, Liz Phair, Christina Aguilera, and more.

Slash Makes Appearance in New Single

Slash appears on the new single from The Dandy Warhols, ‘I’d Like To Help You With Your Problem’. Dandys leader Courtney Taylor-Taylor said: “The song has a real Vietnam-era acid rock sound. We wanted that kind of guitar playing on it, but we don’t have anyone in the band who can do it…so thus the Hail Mary to try and get Slash to play on it.” 

 

 

Rod Stewart's New Album

While visiting “The Kelly Clarkson Show” to promote his new album “Swing Fever”, he was asked by to name which of his songs should go on a Valentine’s playlist. He picked ‘Tonight’s the Night’, plus his covers of Van Morrison’s ‘Have I Told You Lately That I Love You’, Cat Stevens’ ‘The First Cut Is the Deepest’, and Danny Whitten’s ‘I Don’t Want to Talk About It’.

Tina Turner Reissued

The soundtrack album for the 1993 movie “What’s Love Got to Do With It”, in which she re-recorded hits she’d originally cut with her ex-husband, Ike Turner, will be reissued April 26 as an expanded box set. The 4-disc, one-DVD collection will feature a volume of single edits, remixes, and instrumentals, and 2 volumes with a full 1993 concert. Robert Plant and Alison Krauss Tour Announced

Robert Plant and Alison Krauss have announced a 2-month North American tour. The “Can’t Let Go Tour” starts June 2 in Tulsa OK, and includes 3 Canadian dates – one in Edmonton, and 2 in Vancouver. Tickets go on sale tomorrow.

Pearl Jam Drops New Song

Pearl Jam has dropped the new song ‘Dark Matter’, and announced that they will release a new album with the same name on April 19. The group has also detailed plans for the 2024 “Global Tour”, starting May 4 in Vancouver. The band will then make its way through several US cities before heading to the U.K. and Europe.

Brett Michaels has announced Parti-Gras 2.0, a 5-act package that kicks off July 12 in Noblesville IN, and has 6 dates scheduled this summer. Joining the Poison frontman and solo artist this time will be former Foreigner frontman Lou Gramm, ex-Eagles guitarist Don Felder and Twisted Sister frontman Dee Snider, along with country singer Chris Janson. AC/DC Power Up Tour

AC/DC followed up on hints of big news on Monday by announcing the “Power Up” tour of Europe, spanning 21 dates beginning in May. The band’s tweaked lineup will see singer Brian Johnson, lead guitarist Angus Young and rhythm guitarist Stevie Johnson joined by Matt Laug (ex- Alanis Morissette) on drums and Chris Chaney (formerly of Jane’s Addiction) on bass. No North American dates yet. 

 

 

Former Oasis Member Feeling Bitter

Liam Gallagher isn’t thrilled about his former group being nominated for induction to the Rock Hall of Fame. On X, he wrote: “F*** the Rock and Roll half of fame its full of BUMBACLARTS.” Many fans were confused about the word “Bumbaclarts,” which, it turns out, is a Jamaican slang that can mean toilet paper. 

Ozzy Leads Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Vote

Ozzy Osbourne currently leads Rock and Roll Hall of Fame fan voting for the class of 2024, with more than 45,000. Peter Frampton is second with over 42,000, and Foreigner is third with just over 40,000. They are followed, in order, by Cher, Dave Matthews, Lenny Kravita and Mariah Carey.

Billy Joel's 100th Performance

April 14, CBS will air a concert special spotlighting his 100th performance at New York’s Madison Square Garden. “The 100th: Billy Joel Live at Madison Square Garden — The Greatest Arena Run of All Time” will be shot on March 28. His longstanding MSG residency will end in July.

Sheryl Crow's Latest Single

Friday, she released ‘Do it Again’, the latest single from her new album “Evolution”, out March 29. Sheryl quote: “I feel like I’ve been writing this song for 30 years. To me, life is one long exploration in how to live joyfully. 

 

 

Elton John's Atlanta Home up for Auction

 A treasure trove of items from Elton John's Atlanta home will be auctioned by Christie’s in New York on Feb 21. “The Collection of Sir Elton John: Goodbye Peachtree Road” includes everything from a custom Bentley  to a pinball machine. Also up for grabs: silver leather boots estimated to sell for up to $10,000, and a pair of Sir Winston sunglasses, worth $3,000.

Michael Jackson's Music Catalog Purchased

Half of his music catalog has been reportedly purchased by Sony Music Group for about $600 million. The deal values the King of Pop’s music at $1.2 billion, the most ever for the work of a single musician. A biopic about him is set for release next year.

New Rock Hall of Fame Inductees

Foreigner and Peter Frampton have been announced as 2024 nominees for the Rock Hall of Fame, the first time for both. Also up for consideration, despite being eligible for decades, are Ozzy Osbourne and Cher. Lenny Kravitz, Jane’s Addiction, Dave Matthews Band, Sinead O’Connor and Oasis will also appear on the fan ballot, plus Mary J. Blige, Mariah Carey, Eric B. & Rakim, Kool & the Gang, Sade, and A Tribe Called Quest. Voting is now open.

Gwen Stefani TikTok Tailgate

Gwen Stefani will be performing at the Super Bowl TikTok Tailgate, the NFL’s pregame livestream on Sunday. Fans can tune in @NFL on TikTok for hours of live programming leading up to the game, including her performance, portions of which will be televised in the CBS Pregame Show. She and Blake Shelton will also release their latest collab ‘Purple Irises’ today.

 

 

Will AC/DC Go on Another Tour?

AC/DC is about to rock, again. The group posted its iconic lightning bolt, and a countdown soundtracked to a snippet of 1990’s ‘Are You Ready’ on its social media accounts. All will be revealed on Monday, but insiders are predicting the group’s first tour since 2016. 

 

Purple Rain Adaptation Premiere

A stage adaptation of “Purple Rain” will have its world premiere in his hometown of Minneapolis MN. Producer Orin Wolf says it’ll be staged at Hennepin Theatre Trust’s historic State Theatre beginning in Spring 2025.

Bon Jovi Predicts 'Wedding Hit'

 Jon Bon Jovi claims he has written a song for his daughter that will be THE “wedding song for next 100 years”. The song, which will be on his group’s next album, was written for Stephanie Rose Bongiovi’s wedding day, but even she hasn’t heard it yet. It’s called ‘Kiss the Bride’.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Considering New Music

Rickey Medlocke says they are considering putting together an album featuring songs written by the group “over the past 12, 15 years, maybe even earlier than that”. The material includes music written by late guitarist Gary Rossington, and they may “invite different people on the record to come in and play…kind of like an all-star Skynyrd record.”

 

Grateful Dead Breaking Records

Grateful Dead have broken the record for the most Top 40 albums to chart on the Billboard 200. The Dead, which broke up in 1995, is now ahead of Elvis Presley and Frank Sinatra with 59 Top 40 entries on the chart, following the #25 debut of their latest archival release “Dave’s Picks, Volume 49”. 41 of the band’s 59 entries have happened since 2012, thanks to the popularity of their series of archival albums.

Creed Tour Announces More Dates

Turns out, demand for their reunion couldn’t have been any, uh, higher. The group has added 20 more shows to its “Summer of ’99” tour, in response to fan interest. The run of shows between Nov. 2 and Dec. 5 includes 18 US shows, plus stops in Montreal Nov. 25 and Toronto 2 days later. 

 

 

U2 Collabs with David Guetta

U2 have shared an EDM remix of their song ‘Atomic City’ by DJ David Guetta. The group released the song in September and played it live from Las Vegas’ MSG Sphere on the Grammys broadcast on Sunday.

 

Rent Ozzy Osborne's Condo!

You could rent Ozzy Osbourne's Hollywood condo for $9,500 a month. He and wife Sharon are seeking a tenant for the one-bedroom, two-bathroom unit in a high-rise building with 24/7 security, door attendants, valet parking, and a front desk. The Osbournes also own a 2-bedroom, apartment next door, which is already rented out. It was listed for $17,500 a month. Read the whole story HERE.

T-Swift Fans Eager to Hear New Album

Fans are already guessing that the new album she announced at the Grammys, “Tortured Poets Department”, is a dig at ex boyfriend Joe Alwyn. In 2022, Alwyn and “Normal People” star Paul Mescal revealed in an interview that their WhatsApp group chat with Andrew Scott is named  “Tortured Man Club.” (It’s so unlike her to find inspiration in a failed relationship…!)

Billy Joel's Latest Already on Billboard Top 20

‘Turn the Lights Back On’, Billy Joel's first new single release in 17 years, has entered Billboard’s Adult Contemporary chart at #11, his tune on the chart since his 1998 cover of ‘Hey Girl’. Even more impressive is the fact that Joel’s song made the chart on its first day of airplay, following its release last Thursday. 

 

 

MusiCares 2024 Person of the Year, Bon Jovi!

Shania Twain, Bruce Springsteen and Sammy Hagar were among those who paid tribute to Jon Bon Jovi on Friday, as he was named the MusiCares 2024 Person of the Year. Bon Jovi the band also debuted the new song ‘Legendary’, expected to be on the group’s next studio album.
