Talking Heads Member in Docuseries

Talking Heads frontman David Byrne is featured in a new documentary series “The Art of Sound”, from L-Acoustics, a creator of professional audio technology. The series “merges scientific discovery with artistic insight to explore sound’s fundamental role in human evolution and its continuing influence on our daily lives.” Byrne’s episode is now available on the L-Acoustics YouTube channel.

 

The Police Reunion

Sting and Andy Summers have reunited for the first time since their 2008 tour to perform together on a new version of their former band’s 1983 song ‘Murder by Numbers’. The jazzy song was given the big band treatment, and will appear on Sting’s “Without Further Ado, Vol. 1” album, out Aug. 29. 

 

 

Beatles Descendants Make Music Too!

Their sons have united to make music together. Ringo Starr’s son Zak Starkey joined forces with John Lennon’s son Sean Ono Lennon and Paul McCartney’s son James McCartney for the song ‘Rip Off’, which Starkey shared a clip of. Sean and James joined Starkey’s supergroup Mantra of the Cosmos for the genre-bending rock song with elements reminiscent of the Fab Four’s sound. 

 

 

Men Without Hats Joins TikTok

The 1980s Canadian New Wave band, Men With out Hats, known for the hits ‘The Safety Dance’ and ‘Pop Goes the World’, have not only joined TikTok, they also announced in a new clip that they have a new song and video coming out. Premiering June 26, it is fittingly titled ‘I Love the ’80s’.  Check it out below:

Heart's Stolen Instruments

Heart is offering a “no questions asked” reward for the return of some instruments that were stolen. Before their May 31 show at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Atlantic City, 2 guitars were taken, including a one-of-a-kind purple sparkle baritone Telecaster with hand-painted headstock, which was custom made for Nancy Wilson.

 

Morten Harket's Brain Implant

A-ha singer Morten Harket revealed he’s been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease. The ’80s pop star posted on his band’s website that he has had 2 advanced surgeries, where electrodes were implanted inside each side of his brain, which greatly alleviated his symptoms.

ABBA Member Still Going Strong at 80

At age 80, Björn Ulvaeus is pioneering a new frontier in musical theater. During a talk at SXSW London, he said: “I’m writing a musical, assisted by AI.” He indicated that he is “three-quarters” through the creative process.

John Fogerty's Legendary Guitar

 John Fogerty was once offered the chance to buy back the guitar he played during CCR’s glory days, but refused because of the memories connected with the era. His wife, however, bought it anyway and gave it to him as a Christmas present, kick-starting a healing process that helped him return to music. His upcoming album “Legacy – The Creedence Clearwater Revival Years”, features recreations of CCR classics.

 

 

U2 Teases New Music on Kimmel

Bono told Jimmy Kimmel that the new music the band is currently working on is “the sound of 4 men, who feel like their lives depend on it… Nobody needs a new U2 album unless it’s an extraordinary one. And I’m feeling very strong about it.”

Super Deluxe Talking Heads Album

Talking Heads will release a Super Deluxe reissue of their second album “More Songs About Buildings and Food”. The new version of the groundbreaking 1978 album is due out on July 25, and will include a 60-page hardcover book featuring rare photos and new liner notes with recollections from David Byrne, Tina Weymouth, Chris Frantz, and Harrison.
