Styx Residency in Vegas

 Styx is returning to Vegas next year for a residency at The Venetian Theatre. The band will play 5 shows in January and February, during which they’ll perform their 1977 album “The Grand Illusion”, in its entirety (for the first time), along with other hits. Tickets go on sale this Friday.

 

Duran Duran Re-Releases Album for Halloween!

Duran Duran will celebrate the spooky season with a new version of their 2023 album “Danse Macabre”. “Danse Macabre – De Luxe”, out Oct. 11, includes 3 bonus tracks: an instrumental called ‘Masque of Pink Death’, a cover of ELO’s ‘Evil Woman’, and ‘New Moon (Dark Phase)’, a reimagined version of their hit ‘New Moon on Monday’, which is available now.

 

 

Cher to Headline Victoria

Cher has been booked to headline the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show 2024. The lingerie brand is bringing the event back on Oct. 15, after a 5-year hiatus, with an all-female musical talent lineup. Other Cher events this fall include her Oct. 19 Rock Hall of Fame induction, and the Nov. 19 release of the first volume of her book “Cher: The Memoir, Part One”.

Lynyrd Skynyrd Singer To Release Christian Rock Album

Singer Johnny Van Zant and his brother, 38 Special’s Donnie Van Zant will release an album of Christian rock under the name Van Zant. Titled “Always Look Up”, it will feature the previously-released song ‘Jesus Christ, as well as the new release ‘There You Are’. It drops Nov. 2. 

 

Will Dave Grohl Get a Divorce?

Dave Grohl retained a divorce attorney before announcing he has welcomed a child outside his marriage of 21 years, People reports a source as saying. No official word on that from Grohl, who has been married to Jordyn Blum since 2003. They share 3 daughters, aged 10, 15, and 18.

Bryan Adams

Nov. 15, he’ll release part 2 of his 2023 box set “Live at the Royal Albert Hall”. “Live at the Royal Albert Hall 2024” was recorded in May during his 3-night stand there, where he played a full album each night. The box set includes performances of “18 ‘Til I Die”, “Reckless” and “So Happy It Hurts”. It’s available as a 3-CD set or 4-LP vinyl; both come with a Blu-ray disc with video footage.

Slash Releases Limited Edition Vinyl

The G’N R guitarist has released a limited edition, vinyl-only compilation of original compositions recorded over the past 6 years for the Halloween Horror Nights ‘Universal Monsters’ haunted house attraction in LA. The 11-track album “Music Of Universal Studios Hollywood – Halloween Horror Nights” will be sold exclusively at Universal Studios Hollywood through Nov. 3, except for 100 copies available online (and probably already sold out…).

Weezer to Release an Expanded Version of "Blue Album"

Weezer will release an expanded anniversary edition of their beloved self-titled debut, nicknamed the “Blue Album”. As a preview, they’ve dropped a previously unreleased early version of ‘Undone (The Sweater Song)’, the eventual album version of which is an enduring snapshot of the entire ’90s alt/rock era.

 

 

Duran Duran to Release New Song on Sept. 13

Duran Duran will release the new single ‘New Moon (Dark Phase)’ this Friday. Not many details yet, but it appears it will be a new mix of their 1984 hit ‘New Moon on Monday’. Guess Who's Agreement

The Guess Who an agreement has been reached over use of the band’s name. Classic-era leaders Burton Cummings Randy Bachman filed suit in 2023 against original members Jim Kale and Garry Peterson over false advertising claims, as they continued to tour under the band name. Cummings quote: “Randy and I are happy because there isn’t a fake Guess Who out there anymore.”

Brian May's Mini-Stroke Scare

Brian May has revealed he recently had a minor stroke that left him unable to use his left arm. He announced in a video that after the “health hiccup” last week, he is now recovering and able play guitar again, which had been “in some doubt”.

Elton John's Latest Health Stuggle

Elton John revealed on social media that he’s been struggling with an eye infection that left him “with only limited vision in one eye.” He wrote that healing is “an extremely slow process and it will take some time before sight returns to the impacted eye.” He is the subject of the documentary “Elton John: Never Too Late”, which premieres at the Toronto Film Festival tonight.

Room at the Top's Latest Cover

Eddie Vedder teamed up with AC/DC bassist Chris Chaney, Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and others for a cover of Tom Petty’s ‘Room at the Top’, which will appear on the soundtrack album for the new Apple TV+ show “Bad Monkey”, starring Vince Vaughn. Also recording Petty songs for the collection, out Oct. 4, are Weezer, The War On Drugs, Kurt Vile, and others. 

 

 

Lionel Richie's Dubai New Years Performance

Lionel Richie is booked for New Year’s Eve. He’ll be performing in Dubai, headlining the “New Year’s Eve Under the Stars Gala” at Atlantis, The Palm Dubai. Following his show, according to promotors, the audience will be treated to “the greatest fireworks show on earth.”

Van Halen Brothers Unreleased Song

Alex Van Halen has shared a snippet of the previously unreleased song he created with his late brother Eddie. Titled ‘Unfinished’, it is the last piece of music the 2 wrote together, and can be heard as Alex narrates the audio version of his new memoir “Brothers”, out Oct. 22.

Rolling Stones Member Creates Freddie Mercury Art

Ronnie Wood is selling prints of his portrait of Freddie Mercury to raise funds for a trust set up in the late singer’s name. Bon Jovi Releases New Duet of Song

After scoring a 2006 by teaming up with Jennifer Nettles for a duet version of ‘Who Says You Can’t Go Home’, the band has dropped a duet version of ‘The People’s House’ featuring The War and Treaty. The song is about the current division that exists in the US. 

 

 

Tom Petty's Big Announcement!

The big announcement that his social media had been teasing has been revealed. A deluxe box set version of 1982’s “Long After Dark” will be released Oct. 18. It will include a remastered version of the album, plus 12 songs that have been newly mixed, and versions taken from French TV sessions, commentary from Jimmy Iovine and Cameron Crowe, and archival photographs.
