Sin

The National Wax Museum in Dublin has withdrawn its likeness of her just one day after installing it, following a backlash from her family and the public. It was unveiled last week to coincide with the first anniversary of her death, but it soon sparked criticism because, as her brother told media, it “looked nothing like her.”

Axl Rose Joins Billy Joel on Stage

Bill Joel was joined onstage by Axl Rose Thursday night, at the final show of his Madison Square Garden residency in New York. The Guns N’ Roses singer performed 3 songs with Joel: ‘You May Be Right’, and covers of Wings’ ‘Live and Let Die’ and AC/DC’s ‘Highway to Hell’. Jimmy Fallon also appeared on stage to give Joel a banner commemorating the moment.

 

 

Celine Dion's Powerful Comeback

Celine Dion made her comeback to the live stage on Friday, belting out a powerful and flawless rendition of Edith Piaf’s classic ‘L’Hymne A l’Amour’, to close the Paris Olympics opening ceremony. Dion, who began her career singing in French, had not performed live since 2020, and announced her diagnosis of stiff-person syndrome in 2022.

Bob Dylan's Film Trailer

 The first trailer has been released for “A Complete Unknown”, starring Timothée Chalamet. It covers Dylan’s early years in New York, and his rise to fame in the 1960s. Also appearing in the clip are Edward Norton as Pete Seeger, Monica Barbaro, who plays Dylan’s girlfriend Joan Baez, and Elle Fanning. The film hits theaters in December.

 

 

Joe Bonamassa Teams up with Train

Train has teamed up with renowned blues guitarist Joe Bonamassa for a cover of .38 Special’s 1981 hit ‘Hold On Loosely’. Jeff Carlisi, original guitarist of .38 Special, commented on YouTube: Guys, I’m honored that you would pay homage to a piece of music that was a huge part of my life.” 

 

 

NSYNC's Feature in the New Deadpool Movie

NSYNC all members of the group except Justin Timberlake attended the New York premiere of “Deadpool & Wolverine”, because their song ‘Bye Bye Bye’ is featured in the film. Star Ryan Reynolds’ wife Blake Lively was thrilled to get a selfie with them, writing: “No one will ever know what this moment meant to me…Happiest human ever.” She added: “10-year-old, and also 36-year-old me is sobbing.” 

Joy Division Named Best Cover Album of All Time

Their 1979 album “Unknown Pleasures” tops Rolling Stone’s list of the Best Album Covers of All Time. The rest of the top 5, in order, are: The Beatles’ “Abbey Road”, Sly & the Family Stone’s “There’s a Riot Goin’ On”, Pink Floyd’s “The Dark Side of the Moon”, and The Notorious B.I.G.’s “Ready to Die”. The worst? Limp Bizkit’s “Chocolate Starfish and the Hot Dog Flavored Water”.

Mark Hamill in Green Day Music Video

“Star Wars” actor Mark Hamill makes a cameo as ‘Luke Skywalker’ in their new video for ‘Corvette Summer’. In the clip, bandmembers portray junior high schoolkids from 1979, demonstrating to the class that they created a music video over summer break. Hamill appears in a nod to the 1978 film “Corvette Summer”, which he starred in. 

 

 

Neil Young to Take the Stage at Farm Aid

Neil Young will perform at this year’s Farm Aid festival on Sept. 21 in Saratoga Springs NY, even though he cancelled his summer tour with Crazy Horse due to (someone’s) illness. He’ll be joined by fellow Farm Aid board members Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp and Dave Matthews, plus Mavis Staples, Nathaniel Rateliff and the Night Sweats, Lukas Nelson, and more.

Cher to Release Two-Part Memoir

Cher is ready to tell all. The 78-year-old Goddess of Pop has announced that she will release a 2-part memoir. The description by HarperCollins Publishers says: “After more than 70 years of fighting to live her life on her own terms, Cher finally reveals her true story in intimate detail.” In “Cher: The Memoir, Part One,” she recalls her childhood and marriage to Sonny Bono, detailing “the highly complicated relationship that made them world-famous, but eventually drove them apart.” The 480-page first book hits stores Nov. 19, and the second is expected sometime in 2025.

Nirvana Bassist Plays with Cover Band

Bassist Krist Novoselic jammed with a Nirvana tribute band onstage. Shortly before FooVana’s gig in Vancouver WA, the group posted a pic of Novoselic, writing: “Get down here to Georgie’s Garage and Grill! Show’s about to start! Oh yeah that’s right… Somebody else is here!!!” Together, they played 3 Nirvana songs: ‘Blew’, ‘Lithium’ and ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’. 

 

 

Rush Artist's Solo Albums

Geddy Lee and Alex Lifeson are both reissuing their first solo albums. Lifeson’s 1996 release “Victor” and Lee’s 2000 release “My Favorite Headache” will both drop again on Aug. 9. It’ll be the first vinyl edition for Lifeson’s Victor, and will include one side of bonus instrumentals.

Springsteen the Billionaire

Bruce Springsteen is officially a billionaire. According to a “conservative” estimate by Forbes, his net worth is $1.1 billion. In 2021, he sold his music catalog for an estimated $500-$550 million, the biggest transaction ever for a single artist’s body of work.

U2's Latest Release

U2 has released the next installment in the digital series “U2 to Love and Only Love – Deep Dives and B-Sides”. The latest, “Beautiful Day”, features 9 songs, including a remastered edition of the title track and 3 remixes, plus remastered versions of ‘Always’ and ‘Summer Rain’, and live tracks.

Blondie Tour Cancelled

Blondie has canceled their upcoming US tour dates in Aug. and Sept., but haven’t given a reason why. An Instagram post reads: “This was a hard decision to make, and we understand how disappointing this news is for everyone. We will keep you further informed as soon as possible.” The group only had a handful of shows booked, including a spot at the Evolution Festival in St. Louis on Sept. 28.

Pearl Jam Artist's Near Death Experience

Eddie Vedder has opened up about what felt like a “near-death experience” that caused the band to cancel shows in Berlin and London last week. Fans posted video of him telling the crowd in Barcelona over the weekend that “It felt like chest bronchitis. It felt like maybe you couldn’t breathe, and maybe you wouldn’t make it through the night”. No word on what ailed him. 

 

 

Celine Dion Surprise Performance?

“Today” host Heidi Kotb, who interviewed Dion in June, believes she is planning a surprise return performance, possibly at this summer’s Paris Olympics. On “Watch What Happens Live”, Kotb said that during their talk, Dion asked her manager, who was off camera: “Can I tell her?”, and he responded by screaming “No!”.

Bob Dylan to Release CD Collection

Bob Dylan and the Band are going to release a 27-CD collection, featuring 431 live tracks they recorded together. It drops September 20th. Yours for $129.98

Oasis Star to Undergo Knee Surgery

Noel Gallagher will undergo knee replacement surgery after being hit by arthritis. The 57-year-old was already forced to undergo a major hip operation in April. His estranged brother Liam also suffers from the condition.

Van Halen Guitar Up for Grabs

An Eddie Van Halen guitar emblazoned with the Canadian flag is going up for auction Nov. 21. The long-lost 1993 Ernie Ball Music Signature Canada Day guitar will be part of Julien’s Auctions Played, Worn, & Torn: Rock ‘N’ Roll Iconic Guitars auction. He played it at a 1993 Canada Day concert at Molson Park in Barrie ON. It features the red Maple Leaf, with signatures of all the band members.

Bon Jovi's New Album is NOT Topping Any Charts

Their new album “Forever” has set an unwanted record. After debuting at #5 in its first week of release, it fell all the way out of the Billboard 200 album chart the following week. Unless it returns, Forever will be the first Bon Jovi studio album to only last 1 week in the Top 200.

Invincible Musical with Pat Benatar & Neil Giraldo

She and husband Neil Giraldo have updated fans on their musical “Invincible”, a retelling of Shakespeare’s “Romeo & Juliet” using their music. The musical opened in 2022 in Beverly Hills, but after mixed reviews, Benatar says they are “tearing it to shreds and starting over.” Giraldo added that the musical will be “different and the same at the same time.”

Late David Crosby Father's Another Child...

Melissa Etheridge spoke to People about her decision to use late singer David Crosby as a sperm donor. Etheridge, whose docuseries “Melissa Etheridge: I’m Not Broken” premieres July 9 on Paramount+, said that Crosby, who is the biological father of her daughter Bailey and late son Beckett, was the “perfect” choice, and “We’re still finding kids from David Crosby out in the world.”

Flav Flav Tried to Save Red Lobster

After going viral in June when he ordered every item on the Red Lobster menu in an attempt to help the seafood chain, the rapper has teamed up with the company on a signature meal. “Flavor Flav’s Faves” features Maine Lobster Tail, Snow Crab Legs, Garlic Shrimp Scampi and Bacon Mac & Cheese, plus a side. In the official news release, Flav said: “This signature meal is hype, boy!”

Flea on Yo Gabba Gabba!

Red Hot Chili Peppers – Flea is among the stars guesting in the new revival of the beloved Nickelodeon kids’ show “Yo Gabba Gabbaland”, premiering Aug. 9 on Apple TV+. Also appearing are: Reggie Watts, Sam Richardson, Gillian Jacobs, Utkarsh Ambudkar, Chelsea Peretti, Lauren Lapkus, and Diplo. 

 

 

Heart's Ann Wilson Announces Cancer Battle

Ann Wilson is battling cancer, and the band has postponed its 2024 tour. Rod Stewart Raising Money for War Child UK

Rod Stewart teamed up with artist Tim Wakefield and the Soundwaves Art Foundation for an art piece made from sound waves of the 1988 single ‘Forever Young’, to raise cash for War Child UK. Stewart autographed 4 soundwave originals that are already sold out, as well as 100 prints, which sell for $470 each. The song contains the lyric “be courageous and be brave”.

U2's Latest Release
