Tina Turner's Estate to be a Museum

Tina Turner's widower, Erwin Bach, reportedly plans to transform the $76 million Swiss estate where she died into a museum dedicated to her life and work. The pair bought the sprawling 10-building waterfront retreat, that overlooks Lake Zurich, in 2021. A statue of her is also said to be in the works in her hometown of Brownsville TN, which is already home to The Tina Turner Museum.

Queen's Catalogue Rights to be Sold

The rights to Queen's catalogue could soon be sold for an estimated $1.1 billion, according to several high-level music industry insiders. If the deal goes through, it would be the biggest single-artist catalog sale in history, more than doubling Bruce Springsteen’s $500 million sale in 2021.

Oasis Rediscovers Alternative Takes From 'Definitely Maybe'

Noel Gallagher said in an interview that he has rediscovered alternative takes from the group’s “Definitely Maybe” album sessions in 1993 and 1994, and hopes to release them. He reports there is “some interesting stuff” there, adding: “now we can sell the album for the fifth time all over again!”

Tina Turner Passed Away

Wednesday, May 24th, Tina Turner passed away after a lengthy battle with various illnesses. Her team took to Facebook to announce the tragic loss, see the post below.

Whitesnake's David Coverdale Won't Write an Autobiography

David Coverdale has once again ruled out penning an autobiography. In a new interview, he said: “It would be a spilling of the beans, which I’m not interested in hurting anybody, and particularly my family.” He did indicate, however, that he is working with his video people on “another concept” which “could be significantly more interesting”.

 

Eric Clapton leads Tribute Concert

Eric Clapton led a host of rock royalty in the first of 2 tribute concerts to Jeff Beck at London’s Royal Albert Hall on Mon. He was joined by former Jeff Beck Group singer Rod Stewart, Ronnie Wood, Billy Gibbons, former Allman Brother Derek Trucks, Gary Clark Jr., Kirk Hammett, Imelda May and Johnny Depp, among others.

Tom Petty's Clothes to be Auctioned

Tom Petty's wardrobe hit the auction block on Friday and bids will be taken until June 18. The highlight of the lot, which contains 45 pieces of Petty’s prized possessions, is the black-and-white striped satin jacket he wore for the UK cover of his 1978 hit ‘Listen to Her Heart’.

Ringo Starr Refuses to Write a Memoir

Ringo Starr revealed why he refused to write a memoir, even though he’s been “offered lots of money” to do so. He said the idea bores him because he’d be expected to start the story in 1962 when he joined the group, and he’d need to write “3 volumes before I get to that year….I don’t want to do Ringo the drummer, because we’re all a bit more than that.”

Tom Johnston's Back Injury Removes Him from Tour

Doobie Brother's singer-guitarist Tom Johnston has been forced out of the upcoming leg of their 50th-anniversary tour due to a back injury. He will undergo surgery, but the tour will proceed with Pat Simmons, Michael McDonald and John McFee, beginning tomorrow in Hollywood FL. Johnston is expected to return to the stage after he recovers.

Eric Clapton Performs Live 'Knockin' on Heaven's Door'

Eric Clapton has released a live video of ‘Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door (Rock)’, to preview his new release “The Definitive 24 Nights”. It’s a deluxe collection based on 1991’s compilation of live recordings at London’s Royal Albert Hall, out June 23.

Lou Gramm Announces New Tour Dates

Former singer Lou Gramm has announced a series of dates with his All Stars band, with new music expected soon. He is joined by bassist extraordinaire Tony Franklin plus 2 ex-Foreigner members: saxophonist and guitarist Scott Gilman. Tickets for the 12 US dates, beginning June 6, go on sale today. 

 

 

The Pretenders to Release Another Album

The Pretenders will release their 12th album “Relentless” in September. Why that title? Chrissie Hynde said: “It’s the life of the artist. You never retire. You become relentless.” The group has just dropped the first single ‘Let The Sun Come In’.

Lenny Kravitz Teases New Albums

Lenny Kravitz said in a new interview that his next 2 albums are “pretty much cut” and he’s looking forward to going back on the road after his last tour was cancelled midway through due to the pandemic. He also said he’s happy to see today’s Black artists given more artistic freedom, rather than being pigeonholed into one or 2 genres.

Bryan Adams Releases New Anti-War Song

Friday, he released a new anti-war song ‘What if There Were No Sides at All’. In the acoustic ballad’s YouTube description, he wrote: “The locations are generic but are meant to represent conflicts in the world.”

Sheryl Crow's Plans for a New Show Experience

Sheryl Crow says she has written an immersive “one-woman show”, which she hopes to put into production next year. It would take place at a fixed location, and “The storyline is not specific to, like, documentary style. It is specific to emotional experiences that everybody has experienced, one way or another, and taking everybody on a very scenic journey.”

Duff McKagan Listens to Music his Daughters Enjoy

 Guns N’ Roses bassist Duff McKagan’s guilty pleasure is Kylie Minogue. When asked by Classic Rock magazine the album that no one would believe he owns, he named Minogue’s greatest hits LP “Ultimate Kylie”. McKagan said that he has listened to a lot of pop music thanks to his 2 daughters, and admitted to being a fan of Kylie’s “real good rubbish” music.

Jeff Healey Life Documentary Teased in New Trailer

The trailer for “See the Light”, a documentary covering the life and career of the late Canadian guitar legend, Jeff Healey, has been released. No word on when the doc drops.

 

 

The trailer for the ‘Love To Love You, Donna Summer’ documentary has been revealed. The doc co-directed by her daughter Brooklyn Sudano and will premiere on HBO May 20.

Will Roger Taylor's Son Replace Late Foo Fighter Drummer?

Queen’s Roger Taylor has refused to confirm or deny if his son Rufus will replace the late Taylor Hawkins as Foo Fighters’ drummer. Quote: “Rufus is phenomenal…he’s just annoyingly powerful and he’s become very, very good. I can’t say any more!”  Rufus currently plays with The Darkness, and played Hawkins’ parts during parts of the tribute shows put on for Hawkins last year.

Bob Dylan Quote Trends after Gordon Lightfoot's Passing

In the wake of Gordon Lightfoot's passing at age 84, ‘Bob Dylan’ was trending on Twitter. Why? Because thousands posted the Dylan quote: “I can’t think of any Gordon Lightfoot song I don’t like. Every time I hear a song of his, it’s like I wish it would last forever.” Many celebs chimed in to mourn the loss too, including Brian Wilson, Stephen King and Canadian PM Justin Trudeau.

 

 

 

Aerosmith Announces 'Peace Out' Tour

Aerosmith has announced its 40-date “Peace Out” farewell tour for this fall. It begins Sept. 2 in Philadelphia and is scheduled to wrap up Jan. 26, in Montreal. George Michael Won Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Fan Vote

 George Michael won the Rock Hall of Fame fan vote, but he’s not guaranteed to be inducted with the 2023 class. The fan vote has the same weight as exactly one ballot from a member of the voting body. And the 2nd through 5th place finishers are also placed on the fan vote ballot: They are, in order, Cyndi Lauper, Warren Zevon, Iron Maiden, and Soundgarden.

Cyndi Lauper Documentary to be Released

A new documentary about Cyndi Lauper, “Let the Canary Sing”, will make its debut at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York on June 14. It’s directed by Alison Ellwood, who most recently oversaw the Emmy-winning series “Laurel Canyon”.
