Rolling Stones, Lady Gaga, and Stevie Wonder in New Song

Rolling Stones are teasing another new song, ‘Sweet Sounds of Heaven’, featuring Stevie Wonder and Lady Gaga. The complete song will be released today. It will appear on the Stones’ upcoming album “Hackney Diamonds” out Oct. 20.

Eric Clapton to Perform at Tribute Concert

Eric Clapton has been announced as a performer at the upcoming tribute concert for late Procol Harum’s singer/pianist Gary Brooker. Also appearing at the star-studded charity show will be Queen’s Roger Taylor, Genesis’ Mike Rutherford, and more. “Remembering Gary Brooker” will be held at the G Live arts center in Guildford, England on Dec. 4th.

Ozzy's Plans for New Music & Tours

Ozzy Osbourne wants to release another new album next year. The 74-year-old Prince of Darkness, who has dropped 2 albums in the last 4 years, told Metal Hammer: “I’m getting myself fit…I want to do one more album and then go back on the road.”

 

Rolling Stones New Album Nearly Ready

Rolling Stones are almost done completing a follow-up to “Hackney Diamonds”, their new album, which hasn’t even been released yet. Speaking on the Canadian podcast “Q with Tom Power”, Mick Jagger said: “This won’t be the last album. We are two-thirds through the next one.” Hackney Diamonds will be their first studio album of new material since 2005.

 

Lynyrd Skynyrd Keeps Possibility for New Music Open

Singer Johnny Van Zant won’t rule out a new album. Despite the fact that the last surviving member Gary Rossington died this year, Van Zant said: “We had all intentions of…making a record and doing it with Gary. But he got sick and so it just never happened. But there are songs out there that we could record in his honor. So, who knows?”

Rush Tour: Geddy Lee In Conversation

Geddy Lee has announced a spoken word tour of the UK beginning Dec. 10. “Geddy Lee In Conversation” will see him bring to life his forthcoming memoir, “My Effin’ Life”, out Nov. 14, including a “a deep reflection into his family and childhood…and a steep dive into the history of Rush”, and a Q&A.

98 Degrees 25th Anniversary Tour

98 Degrees is currently touring in celebration of their 25th anniversary, and joked to Andy Cohen that NSYNC’s reunion “stole their thunder”. On the other hand, Drew Lachey said they aren’t sweating it: “When one succeeds, we all succeed. Us, NSYNC, Backstreet Boys, we’re all clumped into the same kind of pile there. So if one’s elevated, it elevates everybody.”

Sheryl Crow & George Michael Amongst Stars Named for Rock & Roll Hall of Fame

Willie Nelson becomes the second consecutive country icon to be inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame, following in Dolly Parton‘s footsteps last year.

Also selected this year in the Performers category are Sheryl Crow, The Spinners, Missy Elliott, Rage Against the Machine, Kate Bush and the late George Michael. Additionally, the Rock Hall will honor hip-hop pioneer DJ Kool Herc and guitar legend Link Wray with the Musical Influence Award; Chaka Khan, Elton John‘s songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and founding Blood, Sweat & Tears member Al Kooper with the Musical Excellence Award; and the late Soul Train creator and host Don Cornelius with the industry Ahmet Ertegun Award.

Rage is being inducted after appearing on the ballot five times, while Bush makes it on her fourth try. Missy Elliott, Sheryl Crow, Willie Nelson and George Michael were all chosen for induction following their first time on the ballot.

This year’s nominees who were not inducted include The White Stripes, Soundgarden, Iron Maiden, Warren Zevon, Joy Division and New Order, Cyndi Lauper and A Tribe Called Quest.

The 2023 Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony takes place November 3 at New York City’s Barclays Center.

Michael Jackson's Son Talks Vitiligo

Michael Jackson's son Prince spoke on Mike Tyson’s podcast about his father’s skin condition, vitiligo, and how it rocked his confidence. The 26-year-old said that Micheal “had a lot of insecurity around, kind of looking blotchy…So he wanted to see if he could smooth out his appearance, to help with his security on his physical appearance.”

The Beatles Unreleased Songs Up for Auction

Some never-before-heard recordings are up for auction, and expected so sell for $300,000 to $500,000. The 6 tapes include rehearsals for “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band” recordings of an unreleased George Harrison album, almost 2 hours of Yoko Ono’s “Primal Scream Therapy” — and an unreleased collab album with Yoko and John. 

R.E.M Reissues UP Album

 R.E.M. has announced a 25th anniversary reissue of 1998’s “Up” album, set for release Nov. 10. It’ll include a remastered version of the album, plus a previously unreleased 11-song set taken from the band’s 1999 appearance on the TV show “Party of Five”. There are also new interviews, music videos and more.

Bryan Adams to Release Box Set

Dec. 8,  Bryan Adams will release a box set of his 3-night residency at London’s historic Royal Albert Hall. The recordings were made in 2022 on the “So Happy It Hurts” tour, when the opening half of each show was dedicated to a specific album. Formats include a 4-LP vinyl set plus Blu-Ray, and a 4-CD plus Blu-Ray edition. Both are accompanied by a 32-page photo book.

Eric Clapton Releases Willie Nelson Tribute

Eric Clapton has released a cover of ‘Always on My Mind’ in tribute to Willie Nelson, who celebrated his 90th birthday earlier this year. Clapton collaborated with country singer Bradley Walker and Ronnie Wood on the song. 

 

 

Bon Jovi Talks Possible Reunion

Former guitarist Richie Sambora was asked in a podcast about the possibility of a reunion with the band. His response: “We’re talking about it.” Pressed about the issue, he said: “There’s a demand out there for it, you know.” In June, he answered the same question thus: “No, not even close. Nobody asked me yet — but I could do it tomorrow if they asked me.”

NSYNC Reunites for Trolls Movie

NSYNC have reunited to record the new song ‘Take You to a Better Place’, which will be featured in the upcoming “Trolls Band Together” movie. A snippet of the song, which will be released Sept. 29, can be heard now on TikTok. It’s the first time all 5 members have recorded together since 2001.

Jimmy Buffet's 1985 best-of collection “Songs You Know by Heart: Jimmy Buffett’s Greatest Hit(s)” has re-entered the Billboard 200 albums chart at #4 in wake of his death on Sept. 1. The album peaked at #100 upon its release.J

Cher to Release a Christmas Album

Cher has announced her first-ever holiday album. She shared the festive news on Instagram, posting possible album art work, and writing: “Are you spending Christmas with me?”. Amy Winehouse's Band to do Birthday Memorial Concert

Her original band has announced a special concert in London, to celebrate the late singer’s 40th birthday. The Dec. 22 gig will be led by her long-term musical director and bass player Dale Davis – who is working as a music consultant on the upcoming biopic “Back to Black”.

Jimmy Buffett's Unreleased Album

Prior to passing on Sept. 1, Jimmy Buffett had been working on a new album, which is now scheduled for release Nov. 3. “Equal Strain on All Parts is now being marketed as a posthumous tribute to the “Mayor of Margaritaville.” Three songs have been released, including ‘My Gummie Just Kicked In’, ft. Paul McCartney on bass.

Elvis Presley's Holiday Special

NBC has announced the holiday special “Christmas at Graceland”, executive produced by his granddaughter Riley Keough, airing Nov. 29. It’ll “feature music’s biggest stars celebrating the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, his music and his favorite time of year, in an unprecedented holiday special live from his iconic home, Graceland”, according to the network. Performers will be announced later.

AC/DC Replacing Phil Rudd for Power Trip Festival

AC/DC are seemingly replacing drummer Phil Rudd for next month’s Power Trip festival in California. They posted a snippet of rehearsal audio, with the words: “PWR UP for Power Trip!…rehearsal of the boys powering up with Cliff Williams, who’s coming out of retirement for the festival, and Matt Laug on drums.” Laug has played with Alice Cooper, Alanis, and Slash. 

 

Nirvana to Release an Anniversary Reissue

Oct. 27, Nirvana will drop a 30th anniversary reissue of “In Utero”. Configurations include a limited-edition 8LP Super Deluxe box set, 5CD Super Deluxe box set, 1 LP + 10” edition, 2CD Deluxe edition, and a Digital Super Deluxe edition. The 3 Super Deluxe editions will include 53 previously unreleased tunes, including 2 live shows.

 

KISS to Headline 2023 Toyota AFL

Australian Football League has announced that KISS will headline the 2023 Toyota AFL Grand Final pregame show. That happens Sept. 30 at the Melbourne Cricket Ground. Kiss has one Australian show scheduled during its current “End of the Road” farewell tour, In Sydney on Oct. 7.

Billy Idol Joins Foo Fighters at Concert

Billy Idol joined Foo Fighters on stage Sunday at the Jazz Aspen Snowmass festival in Colorado for a rendition of the Sex Pistols ‘Pretty Vacant’. Idol has a side-band called Generation Sex, alongside former Pistols members Steve Jones and Paul Cook.

Margaritaville Lowers Flag to Honor Jimmy Buffett

The flag at Margaritaville in Palm Springs (and presumably other locations) has been lowered to half-mast in honor of the beloved singer, who died late Friday at 76. TMZ reports he was diagnosed with skin cancer 4 years ago, which developed into lymphoma.

Aerosmith Begins Farewell Tour

Aerosmith kicked off its “Peace Out” farewell tour on Saturday in Philadelphia with an impressive 18-song set. After a 20-minute history of the band played on the video screens, the stage was revealed, a giant 3D version of the Aerosmith logo, complete with inflatable wings. Black Crowes are the opening act for the tour, currently slated to end Jan. 26 in Montreal.

Rolling Stones New Song Tease

Rolling Stones has dropped a snippet of the new song ‘Don’t Get Angry With Me’, but may have underestimated the interest the new song would generate, causing error messages to appear for many fans eager to hear it – and ironically making them angry. On the other hand, it may have been a stunt. Whomever mans their X feed has been responding to angry messages with the words – you guessed it – “Don’t Get Angry With Me’.
