Matchbox Twenty Talks New Album

Co-founder Paul Doucette says he didn’t think the group would “ever make music again” prior to recording the group’s new album “Where the Light Goes”, out May 26. Quote: “I had grieved it and moved on. Rob [Thomas] was doing his thing and I didn’t want to wait anymore.”

Neil Young Performs With Stephen Stills For the First Time Since 2018

Neil Young performed with former bandmate Stephen Stills for the first time since 2018 on Sat. at Stills’ Light Up the Blues concert, raising funds for Autism Speaks. Apart from a brief appearance at an environmental rally in in Feb. it was Young’s first public performance in 4 years.

John Mellencamp Announces New Album

John Mellencamp has announced the June 2 release of his new album “Orpheus Descending”. Friday he dropped the song ‘Hey God’, a bit of social commentary regarding the gun debate.

George Michael's Lead Continues For Rock n' Roll Hall of Fame

With Rock & Roll Hall of Fame fan voting set to end this Friday, he leads the pack with over 940,000 votes. Also in the top 5, which qualifies an act for “a fan’s ballot” (in order): Cyndi Lauper, Warren Zevon, Iron Maiden and Soundgarden. Willie Nelson is in 6th place.

Eddie Van Halen's Guitar Sells for 4 Million

The iconic red, white and black-striped guitar he used in Van Halen’s ‘Hot For Teacher’ has been sold for just under $4 million. Sotheby’s, says an unnamed bidder bought the instrument for $3,932,000 last week. It was expected to go for $2-$3 million.  

Bob Dylan's Harmonica Up for Sale

The harmonica he used in his career-making 1963 concert at Town Hall in NYC is up for sale – for $45,000. Moments in Time is selling it on behalf of owner Peter McKenzie, who was gifted the unique piece of history.

Billy Idol Performs at Hoover Dam

Billy Idol performed the first-ever concert at the Hoover Dam earlier this month. On April 8th, he recorded a couple of songs with 250 lucky fans on hand to witness the show. The songs will be part of a concert film coming out later this year..

Pink Floyd's, Roger Waters, Tour Can be Seen in Theaters

His May 25 “This Is Not A Drill” tour show in Prague will be screened live at more than 1,500 cinemas across more than 50 countries. UK’s The Times has hailed the show as “one of the most eye-catching, imaginative, well executed examples of arena rock you’ll ever see.”

Foo Fighters Are Back!

After some teasing, the band has shared the new song ‘Rescued’, and announced “But Here We Are”, their new album, set for release June 2. It’ll be their first since the death of drummer Taylor Hawkins. The group calls it “a testament to the healing powers of music, friendship, and family.”

Bruce Springsteen Gets His Own Day of the Year

Sept. 23 has been declared “Bruce Springsteen Day” in New Jersey. Governor Phil Murphy said the honor is to “recognize Bruce for all he has done and will continue to do, from giving us the gift of his music to lending his time to the causes close to his heart.” That’s the same day The Boss turns 74.

AC/DC Fan Statue Unveiled

A fan-funded statue of frontman Brian Johnson was unveiled Sunday in in Namur, Belgium to commemorate the first concert he ever played with the band on June 29, 1980. Johnson recorded a video message, promising to visit Namur in the next few weeks to see the statue in person.

George Michael Leads Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Votes

George Michael has a comfortable lead in Rock Hall of Fame fan voting, with the April 28 deadline approaching. In 2nd place is Cyndi Lauper, with Warren Zevon in third, ahead of Iron Maiden and Soundgarden in 4th and 5th. Vote at www.RockHall.com .

Eric Clapton Announces Guitar Festival

Eric Clapton has announced the lineup for the 2023 Crossroads Guitar Festival, benefiting the Crossroads Center. This year’s event, set for Sept. 23 and 24 at Crypto.com Arena in LA, will include ZZ Top, Santana, Robbie Robertson, Stephen Stills, Sheryl Crow, Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr., Joe Bonamassa, Jakob Dylan, Vince Gill. H.E.R., Jimmie Vaughan and more. Slowhand will also perform both nights.

Gordon Lightfoot Cancels all Upcoming Performances

Gordon Lightfoot was trending on Twitter after it was announced he has cancelled all upcoming concerts due to “some health-related issues.” No more details were given. The 84-year-old was set to play more than a dozen US dates in April, June and September, plus a Kitchener ON show in Oct.

Peter Frampton Announces Tour

Peter Frampton has announced the “Never Say Never” US tour. It begins June 21 in Huber Heights OH, running through Aug. 19 in Sandy UT. He embarked on a “Finale Tour” in 2019 after a diagnosis of a condition affecting the muscles, but is now feeling well enough to hit the road once more.

Joe Perry Announces New Solo Album

 Aerosmith guitarist Joe Perry has announced his new solo album “Sweetzerland Manifesto MKII”, and shared the song ‘Fortunate One’, featuring the Black Crowes’ Chris Robinson and Robert DeLeo of Stone Temple Pilots. The new LP drops May 26 and includes 6 songs featuring alternate vocal appearances and mixes from the first incarnation of the album, which dropped in 2018.

Madonna to Get Plastic Surgery to Look More 'Natural'

Madonna is undergoing procedures to get her natural appearance back, ahead of her upcoming world tour, according to a report. The 64-year-old faced criticism following the Grammys in Feb., where she modeled a striking new look. The Daily Mail says she was deeply “affected” by internet haters, and wants to restore her natural features before the tour begins in July.
