Ozzy and Sharon in PlayStation Commercial

Ozzy Osbourne and wife Sharon are featured in a new commercial for PlayStation VR2, the next generation of virtual reality gaming. The console launched this week, and Osbourne tweeted out a link to the commercial, writing: “Did this spot with the @PlayStation team. We had a lot of fun. Their new VR2 really is amazing.”

A Peek Into Rolling Stones Mobile Studio

The Rolling Stones are giving fans a peek into their custom-built mobile studio, which is credited for changing the world of recording. A short documentary has been shared on the band’s YouTube channel, showing how the “most important music studio on wheels” came into existence.

Coldplay's Chris Martin on Track to Help End Poverty

Chris Martin and actor Hugh Jackman are among the co-chairs for this year’s Global Citizen NOW, a leadership summit set for April 27-28 in New York. They’ll join political, corporate and philanthropic leaders, all “focused on driving urgent action to end extreme poverty.”

Van Halen to Release New Vinyl

Van Halen will be releasing the first-ever vinyl edition of “Live: Right Here, Right Now” on April 22 for Record Store Day. The remastered edition of the 1993 live album will be the first of a series of reissues from the Sammy Hagar-era of the band.

The Kinks being Flagged on Twitter

Dave Davies has appealed to Elon Musk, because posts from the band are being automatically flagged with a “sensitive content” warning, due to the name of the group. Davies tweeted: “Dear Elon Musk, would Twitter please stop putting warnings on everything from ‘The Kinks.’ We are just trying to promote our Kinks music.” The group has kicked off a 60th anniversary celebration of reissues.

Kurt Cobain's Skateboard Auctioned to Raise Mental Health Awareness

 Skateboarder Tony Hawk is using today, which would have been Kurt Cobain’s 56th birthday, to raise mental health awareness by auctioning Cobain’s skateboard from 1985. It is decorated with Cobain’s painting of Iron Maiden. Hawk bought the board last year, an original Jeff Phillips model, a skateboarder who died by suicide in 1993, 3 months before Cobain.

Linda Ronstadt Tops the Charts

Her song ‘Long Long Time’ has topped multiple Billboard charts more than 50 years after its release, thanks to its inclusion in a recent episode of “The Last of Us”. The song, which was released in 1970, is at #1 on the Rock Digital Song Sales, LyricFind US and LyricFind Global rankings, dated Feb. 11. It is also at #6 on the Hot Trending Songs chart.

Roger Waters and David Gilmour Tiff Continues

The recent spat between Roger Waters and David Gilmour threatens to derail a $500 million payday for the group. Talks on a deal to sell the band’s music rights have now ground to a halt, because with relations so fraught, the prospect of them agreeing to a deal to sell the group’s catalogue seems unlikely.

Mötley Crüe played their first-ever shows without Mick Mars over the weekend, with former Marilyn Manson guitarist John 5 making his debut with the band during a pair of shows in Atlantic City NJ. The stripped-down shows were “warm-ups” for the group’s co-headlining 2023 world tour with Def Leppard

Def Leppard Announces New Track

 

Def Leppard has announced a “Diamond Star Halos” a track-by-track worldwide broadcast premiere on Feb. 25. During the online event, band members will reveal behind-the-scenes stories from the making of their latest album, and answer fans’ questions.

Several Big Stars in Commercial for the Big Game

Ozzy Osbourne, Paul Stanley, Joan Jett and Billy Idol – In case you haven’t seen it, they’re among the big names appearing in a new Super Bowl ad for HR firm Workday. In the spot, the musicians poke fun at corporate ‘bro-speak’, taking exception to the fact that the business world refers to successful workers as “rock stars.”

Pink Floyd Member Seeking Legal Action Against Ex-Band Mate

Roger Waters is “says he is considering potential legal action” against ex-bandmate David Gilmour and his wife Polly Samson, who lashed out on Twitter at Waters, calling him a “misogynistic Putin puppet” and an anti-semite. Gilmour poured gas on the flames by tweeting that “every word” of Samson’s message was “demonstrably true.”

Santana Announces New Show Dates

Carlos Santana has announced additional dates for his Las Vegas residency. “An Intimate Evening With Santana: Greatest Hits Live” at the House of Blues will begin with a string of dates in May, followed by 16 newly announced shows in Sept. and Nov.

Fleetwood Mac's, Mick, Doesn't Envision Band Continuing

Mick Fleetwood says he can’t envision the group continuing in the wake of Christine McVie’s death. In an interview at the Grammys, he said: “I truly think the line in the sand has been drawn with the loss of Chris. I’d say we’re done, but then we’ve all said that before.”

Shania Twain Once Declined to Work with Prince

Prince once invited Shania Twain to Paisley Park to record “the next Rumours album,” referring to Fleetwood Mac’s 1977 hit LP. She told an interviewer that while she was going through her divorce in 2008, Prince made the request, but she declined because she was “too insecure” to work with him, plus she couldn’t comply with Prince’s “no swearing” rule.

All Things Donna Summer in Upcoming Documentary

A new documentary about her, co-directed by the disco icon’s daughter, Brooklyn Sudano, will premiere at the Berlin International Film Festival this month before arriving on HBO in May. “Love to Love You” will chronicle Summer’s career, while also digging into her personal life and other artistic endeavors, like painting. Summer died in 2012, at age 63.

Depeche Mode To Release a New Single

Depeche Mode will release the new single ‘Ghosts Again’ tomorrow. The new album “Memento Mori” drops this Thursday. It will be the group’s first release since the death of co-founder Andy Fletcher last May at age 60.
