 ZZ Top's Next Album

Billy Gibbons has revealed that the group’s next album will feature late bassist Dusty Hill and his replacement, Elwood Francis, trading licks on several songs. It was being recorded when Hill died in July 2021. The album is expected later this year.  

Dave Grohl Making Surprise Appearances

Dave Grohl showed up on stage with 3 different acts at Glastonbury, even though Foo Fighters weren’t even on the bill. He played a secret set with Foos as the “Churn Outs“, and the next day joined Guns N’ Roses for ‘Welcome to the Jungle’ and appeared with The Pretenders for a rendition of ‘Tattooed Love Boys’. 

 

Is Guns 'N Roses Working on New Music?

A picture of Slash and Axl Rose together in the studio has ignited hopes that the group is working on new material. The photo was shared by Urban Sound Studios in Norway, where the band had appeared at a festival. The caption says the pair were listening to “new mixes” ahead of their headline slot on at Glastonbury over the weekend.

Beatles 'Break up' Signed Contract Up for Auction

The document that released them from their recording obligations is up for auction with an expected sale price of up to $500,000. Dated Dec. 29, 1974, the contract made the Beatles’ split official 5 years after they disbanded. It’s signed by all 4 members.

Bon Jovi's ex Band Member Denies Runion

Ex-guitarist Richie Sambora has emphatically denied any plans for a reunion, despite a recent flurry of rumors to the contrary. When asked on June 15, he responded: “No, not even close. Nobody asked me yet — but I could do it tomorrow if they asked me.” In Feb., he was quoted as saying: “We’re talking about it. I don’t think there’s any reason not to at this point.”

Aerosmith Releases Greatest Hits Compilation

While Joe Perry has said he doesn’t know if the band will ever create a new album, the group has announced a new “Greatest Hits” compilation, out Aug. 18.  The career-spanning collection will be available on CD, 3-CD deluxe, and vinyl, and will feature 44 songs.

 

 

Bill Wyman to Cameo in Upcoming Album

Rolling Stones' Former bassist Bill Wyman has reportedly recorded a new song with the group, more than 30 years after leaving the group. The 86-year-old will make a cameo on the Stones’ upcoming album, on a tune written as a tribute to late drummer Charlie Watts, who died in Aug. 2021.  

John Mellencamp Prefers a Smaller Crowd

John Mellencamp isn’t interested in pandering to his audience. In New York Times interview, he discussed his decision to play smaller, more intimate venues. Quote: “I could do a whole show of hits if I wanted to, but I don’t. That’s one reason I quit playing arenas and playing outdoors. It wasn’t about music — it was about being a human jukebox.”

Def Leppard Shares a Peek into Their Tour

Def Leppard has shared a new video blog covering the first 3 shows of the European leg of the band’s “The World Tour” with Mötley Crüe, covering stops in Sheffield, England, and 2 German cities.

Prince's Career Launching Demo Up for Auction

The demo tape that landed Prince his first record deal as an 18-year-old is up for auction. RR Auction says it is a “stunning revelation for music enthusiasts”. The ¼” inch reel-to-reel tape recording, made in 1976, contains unreleased versions of the originals ‘Just As Long as We’re Together’, ‘My Love is Forever’ and the never-released ‘Jelly Jam’.

Semisonic on Tour with Barenaked Ladies

Not only is Semisonic on its first national tour in over 20 years, supporting Barenaked Ladies, but on Monday, they dropped 2 new songs: ‘Little Bit of Sun’, which has a Tom Petty feel to it, and ‘Grow Your Own’, about the joy of starting up a band.
