This is Spinal Tap - Sequel?

Director Rob Reiner has confirmed that a sequel to 1984’s “This is Spinal Tap” will begin shooting next year. Returning as members of everyone’s favorite pathetic heavy metal band are stars Michael McKean, Christopher Guest and Harry Shearer, with appearances by Paul McCartney, Elton John and Garth Brooks. (Will they call it “Spinal Tap 2”, or “Spinal Tap 11”?)

Heart's Tour Has to be 'Real'

Ann Wilson said in an interview that the band will go on if the group’s upcoming shows, their first since 2019, feel right. Quote: “It’s gotta be real. No going through the motions. No phoning it in. No just getting on some kind of circuit just to take people’s money.” She and sister Nancy are also working on potential new Heart music.

Dave Grohl Reminds Himself to Not Curse

Dave Grohl had a “no cursing” sign made to remind him not to swear during his weekend show in Abu Dhabi at the Grand Prix after-race concert. Swearing is strictly prohibited in the UAE, and use of the F-word is punishable by up to one year in prison. Grohl told the crowd it was “the first time ever” he’d made it through a live set without swearing. 

Ozzy Osbourne Gives Himself 10 Years to Live

The 74-year-old told Rolling Stone UK that he has “at best, 10 years left” to live. During a conversation about a recent back surgery that left him “practically crippled”, he said “The second surgery went drastically wrong”, and during the third “They found a tumor in one of the vertebrae”. No word on whether that 10-year estimation stems from medical opinion.

 

Mariah Carey Topping Charts AGAIN

 Her seasonal chestnut ‘All I Want for Christmas Is You’ has jumped from #17-4 on the Billboard Hot 100 dated Dec. 2. Wham’s ‘Last Christmas’ has also returned to the top 10, leaping from #32-13.  

Hall & Oates Legal Drama Resolved?

 The mystery of why Daryl Hall obtained a restraining order against John Oates has been solved, after part of the case was unsealed by a Tennessee judge. AP reports that what it is that Hall “can’t go for”, is Oates’ plan to sell his share of the duo’s Whole Oats Enterprises to an investment firm, which already purchased a “significant” stake in their catalog 16 years ago.

Bryan Adams Credits T-Swift

The Songwriters Hall of Fame nominee credits Taylor Swift for the idea of re-recording some of his own songs for the “Classic” and “Classic Pt. II” albums. Quote: “She was my inspiration. Now, my productivity has been so high.” He plans to take his daughters to a Swift concert in Canada next year.

Sammy Hagar Invites Several to Join Him on Stage

Sammy Hagar told Howard Stern that David Lee Roth and Alex Van Halen are welcome to join his band on stage during his upcoming Van Halen-focused “Best of All Worlds” tour. About performing songs from different eras of the band, he said: “It’s time. Nobody else is gonna do it.” He has expressed frustration in the past that there hasn’t been a proper concert tribute to the late Eddie Van Halen.

 

Bon Jovi's Original Christmas Release

Bon Jovi just released the new original holiday tune ‘Christmas Isn’t Christmas’. The band is currently recording a new album in Nashville, according to recent reports. 

 

 

Prince's Iconic Shirt to be Auctioned for Thousands

Prince's ruffled shirt is expected to fetch $15,000 at auction. Many of his wardrobe items are up for grabs through RR Auctions. Also available: the shirt he wore to perform ‘Purple Rain’ at the 1985 AMAs, the costume from “Under the Cherry Moon” (expected to go for $45K), and his platform blue boots from the Act I Tour ($20K). The sale ends today.

The Beatles Top the Charts Once Again!

The Beatles have made a fab return to the Billboard Hot 100, as ‘Now and Then’ has debuted at #7. It’s the group’s 35th top 10 – extending their record for the most among groups – and their first since 1996. Not to mention, the last time they all performed together was in 1969. 

 

Geddy Lee's New Music

Geddy Lee has released new music in conjunction with his new book. He kicked off his “My Effin’ Life” book tour in New York, where, after an intro from guest interviewer Paul Rudd, Lee mentioned that the song playing as he walked on stage was ‘Gone’, an unreleased song from his 2000 solo album “My Favorite Headache”. That and ‘I Am…You Are’ dropped Tuesday.

Sammy Hagar Announces Van Halen-focused Tour

Sammy Hagar has announced the Van Halen-focused tour “Best of All Worlds”, and has recruited legendary guitarist and Chickenfoot bandmate Joe Satriani to join him. Hagar’s Circle bandmates, Michael Anthony and Jason Bonham, will round out the band for the US tour, starting July 13 in West Palm Beach FL. The lone Canadian date is July 31 in Toronto. Loverboy will open.

Dave Grohl Plays Drums for Daughter's Show

Dave Grohl teamed up with his daughter Violet again over the weekend. David Bowie‘s pianist Mike Garson was performing a concert of Bowie covers in LA, which 17-year-old Violet joined in for. Dave accompanied his daughter on drums for a cover of Nirvana‘s ‘Heart Shaped Box’ and their collab ‘Show Me How’ from Foo Fighters‘ recent album “But Here We Are”. 

 

 

Bryan Adams Announces Tour with Dave Stewart

Bryan Adams has announced a 2024 US tour with ex-Eurythmic Dave Stewart. It begins January 20 in Billings MT, and hits 27 US cities, plus 2 in Mexico, before wrapping March 20 in Syracuse NY. Unreleased Ozzy Documentary Coming Soon

Penelope Spheeris has confirmed that her unreleased Ozzfest documentary “We Sold Our Souls For Rock ‘N’ Roll” will finally see the light of day. The “Wayne’s World” director said that the film, featuring the original Black Sabbath, plus Slipknot, Rob Zombie, System of a Down, Godsmack, Fear Factory, and more, was made 20 years ago, and finally, Sharon Osbourne plans to release it.

The Beatles and The Rolling Stones Top the Charts

Music lovers are partying like it’s 1963, as both bands are at the top end of a Billboard chart. The Beatles’ “final song” ‘Now and Then’ debuted at #9 on the Adult Alternative Airplay chart, while the Stones ‘Angry’ rose to #6. The last time the 2 acts came together on a Billboard top-10 was Dec. 12, 1964, with the songs ‘I Feel Fine’ and ‘Time is on My Side’.

Def Leppard Drummer Teases Undiscovered Music

Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen said on a podcast that some unreleased material recorded for their debut album has been unearthed. Quote: “We thought that the tapes had been destroyed, but it turns out that they exist. So, we were able to pull some versions and some songs that have never been heard from those tapes, which is fantastic.” No word on a possible release.

Michael Jackson's Jacket Auctioned Off

Michael Jackson's black-and-white leather jacket he wore in a 1984 Pepsi commercial sold for $306,000 at an auction in London. The jacket, which he donned for part of a series of Pepsi New Generation commercials, is not the one he had on when his hair infamously caught fire on-set.

KISS Pay-Per-View Concert

Kiss has announced a pay-per-view event for its supposed final concert. They will reach the end of their “End of the Road Tour” on Dec. 2 at New York’s Madison Square Garden, and fans will be able to livestream the show exclusively at https://www.ppv.com. It’ll cost US $39.99 in Canada and the USA, and $14.99 elsewhere.

Geddy Lee Open to New Rush Performance

Geddy Lee now says he’d be open to performing with Alex Lifeson again as Rush. The band called it quits in 2020, after the death of drummer Neil Peart. The 2 played together for the first time since Peart passed at the 2 Taylor Hawkins tribute shows last year, and Lee says that up until then, performing “with a third person was the elephant in the room, and that kind of disappeared.”

Billy Joel Announces Last Show

After 10 years, Billy Joel has announced his final Madison Square Garden residency show. He’ll wrap up the record-breaking stint, which began in January 2014, on July 25, 2024. It will mark his 104th show as part of the concert series, and his 150th performance at the stadium, where he first played in 1978. He has performed there almost monthly since the start of the residency.

Scorpions Latest Residency

Scorpions are returning to the Las Vegas Strip in 2024 with a new residency in celebration of the 40th anniversary of their iconic album “Love At First Sting”. The group will perform the album plus all of their biggest hits during the “Scorpions – Love At First Sting Las Vegas”, starting April 11 at Bakkt Theater at Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino.

You Could be in a Coldplay Song

Coldplay is asking fans to record vocals for their new song ‘One World’. The group is currently recording the second “Music of the Spheres” volume,” and has put out a request on social media for fans to add their voices to the tune. Brenda Lee's holiday classic ‘Rockin’ Around The Christmas Tree’ turns 65 this year, and to celebrate, she has released a new music video for the song, featuring her friends Tanya Tucker and Trisha Yearwood. 

 

 

Jimmy Page's First Performance in 8 Years

Jimmy Page made a surprise appearance at the Rock Hall Of Fame induction ceremony on Friday. In his first performance in 8 years, he played the song ‘Rumble’ to honor guitarist Link Wray, who was inducted posthumously.

Sheryl Crow Announces New Album

Just before Sheryl Crow's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction on Friday, she released the single ‘Alarm Clock’, and announced the new album “Evolution”, out March 29. She performed with guests Olivia Rodrigo, Stevie Nicks and Peter Frampton, and later joined Willie Nelson for his performance.
