Foo Fighters, Dave Grohl, to Appear in Superbowl Commercial

Dave Grohl will appear in a Super Bowl commercial for Canadian whiskey brand Crown Royal. During Sunday’s NFC and AFC championship games, he appeared in a pair of 30-second teasers. Other stars who we know will appear in Super Bowl ads: Ozzy Osbourne, Joan Jett, Sarah McLauchlan Meghan Trainor, and Missy Elliott and Jack Harlow.

Michael Jackson's Nephew to Portray him in Biopic

Michael Jackson's nephew, Jaafar Jackson, has signed on to portray his uncle Michael in the upcoming biopic “Michael.” Jaafar is the second youngest son to Jackson 5 member Jermaine Jackson, a brother of Michael’s. Production begins this year on the film, which is being made with the cooperation of the Michael Jackson estate.

U2 Reimagines 'With or Without You' for New Album

Friday, they released a “reimagined” version of their 1987 hit ‘With or Without You’, the group’s first #1 hit in the US. The new version appears on the group’s upcoming album “Songs of Surrender”, featuring reworkings of songs from throughout their career.

Nirvana's Krist Novoselic Talks Throwing a TV Off Balcony

In a new fan Q&A, the Breeders’ Kelley Deal told of the time Krist Novoselic followed classic rock star behavior and threw a TV out of a hotel window. But she said, first, he “called down to the front desk, got permission, paid for the TV and asked security to make sure nobody was below. This is the kind of sweet band they were…but the funniest bit was all the planning and anticipation.”

Journey Continues Tour Despite On Going Band Drama

Journey played the first 2 concerts of its 50th anniversary tour over the weekend in Durant OK, with no apparent drama, despite ongoing litigation between Neal Schon and Jonathan Cain. Many had wondered how the band would go on the road before the preliminary hearing on March 3.

Rick Astley to Sue Yung Gravy Over Parody Song

Rick Astley is suing rapper Yung Gravy for impersonating his voice. Astley alleges that Gravy’s 2022 hit ‘Betty (Get Money)’, which heavily borrowed from the singer’s iconic ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’, broke the law by impersonating Astley’s voice, without permission.

Weezer Performing in Grammy Tribute to The Beach Boys

Weezer is one of the acts participating in “A Grammy Tribute to the Beach Boys”, a special that will tape Feb. 8 at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood, 3 days after the Grammys. Other artists influenced by the Beach Boys who are taking part: Beck, Brandi Carlile, Fall Out Boy, Lady A, John Legend, Charlie Puth, St. Vincent, Hanson and more. No air date has been announced.

London Museum on the Look Out for Iconic David Bowie Clothing

David Bowie The Museum of London Dockland has launched an appeal to find a number of iconic items of 20th-century clothing which have gone missing over the years – including a dress worn by Bowie for the UK cover of his “The Man Who Sold the World” album. The museum has plans for an exhibit on Jewish designers who worked on the London fashion circuit.

 

 

Billy Idol Announces Tour with Steve Stevens

 Billy Idol has announced a spring tour of North America. It kicks off Mar. 30 in Scottsdale AZ. He will be joined by his long-time collaborator, guitarist Steve Stevens. Also recently announcing 2023 North American spring/summer tours: Stevie Nicks and REO Speedwagon.

Kansas Announces 50th Anniversary Tour

Kansas has announced its 50th-anniversary tour, called “Another Fork in the Road”, and has released a career-spanning compilation of the same name. The trek kicks off June 2 in Pittsburgh, and winds its way across the US, ending Jan. 28 in Fort Lauderdale FL.

Pink Floyd has dropped a teaser video for “The Dark Side of the Moon’ 50th Anniversary Edition” out March 24. The deluxe box set includes a 160-page book, a CD and gatefold vinyl remaster, and Blu-Ray + DVD audio. The set also includes additional new Blu-ray Atmos mix plus CD and LP live recordings from 1974.

Steven Tyler To Be On Dolly Parton's New Album

Steven Tyler will appear on Dolly Parton’s new album “Rock Star”, expected this year. Parton gave an update, revealing that Cher, Paul McCartney, John Fogerty and Stevie Nicks will all make contributions, in addition to the previously announced Steve Perry and Jimmy Page. She also said she’s “doing her best” to recruit Mick Jagger and Elton John.

Madonna Officially Announces 40th Anniversary Tour

Madonna has announced her “Celebration” tour, to celebrate her 40 years of music. The 35-city trek, featuring special guest Bob the Drag Queen, will kick off July 15 in Vancouver. It will make its way to Europe on Oct. 14 before wrapping on Dec. 1. She released a star-studded video to promote the tour…and yes, that is Jack Black with her tongue down his throat. Kenny Loggins Song Featured in Super Bowl Ad

His hit ‘I’m Alright’ is featured in some new “Caddyshack”-inspired Super Bowl ads for Michelo beer. One recreates the famous scene film where groundskeeper Carl Spackler, played by Bill Murray, in the movie and by Tony Romo in the new ad – gives a play-by-play of his golf swing.

U2 Teases an Exclusive Tour with David Letterman

Bono and the Edge give David Letterman a tour of their native Dublin in an upcoming Disney+ music special, out March 17. In “Bono & The Edge: A Sort of Homecoming, With Dave Letterman”, the host explores the city with the rock stars, with documentary cameras in tow. The special culminates with an intimate U2 concert at a local landmark.

Green Day Releases Demo of Elvis Costello's 'Alison'

Peter Frampton Announces Special Performance

Peter Frampton has announced he’ll return to the stage for a “one night only special performance” on Jan. 22. The show, at Middle Tennessee State University in Nashville, will be free to attend. It will be filmed for a later “special broadcast presentation”. Frampton concluded his farewell tour in November.

Journey's Jonathan Cain to Join Tour

Keyboardist Jonathan Cain says he will be hitting the road with the group next month, despite his increasingly dysfunctional relationship with Neal Schon. Not only have the 2 been publicly feuding and are embroiled in more than one legal dispute, last week, Schon said that Journey co-founding keyboardist Gregg Rolie will appear on the band’s upcoming 50th-anniversary tour.

After announcing they will both perform at AT&T Stadium in Arlington TX on April 8, the pair have announced 7 more shows together: March 10 in LA, May 19 in Nashville, June 16 in Philadelphia, Aug. 5 in Columbus UH, Aug. 19 in Kansas City MO, Sept. 23 in Foxborough MA, and Nov. 10 in Minneapolis.

Gene Simmons' Hot Take on Rolling Stone's Top 100

Gene Simmons isn't holding anything back when it comes to a highly controversial Rolling Stone list ranking the top 200 singers of all time ... according to the publication. We caught up with the KISS rocker who weighed in after the magazine posted its "200 Greatest Singers of All Time" ... which snubbed a lot of music icons in the process. Simmons tells us it's all about who's popular and who's not ... saying the whole thing is skewed and often one-sided. Gene says the list isn't necessarily about singing, it's more about style and who has a recognizable voice. As we reported ... folks like Aretha, Whitney, Adele, Michael, Mariah, Freddie made the list, while others like Celine Dion, Cher and even KISS were left off, sending social media into a frenzy. Journey Teases 50th Anniversary Tour

Neal Schon says fans will see co-founder and keyboardist Gregg Rolie on the band’s 50th-anniversary tour, which starts Feb. 4. After sharing a graphic for Journey’s 50th anniversary tour, a fan commented: “Please tell me Gregg Rollie is coming along for the ride!” Schon responded: “you’ll be seeing him”.

Eddie Vedder Pays Tribute to U2

On YouTube, you can now watch video of Eddie Vedder paying tribute to U2 as the band were given a lifetime artistic achievement award at the Kennedy Center Honors Dec. 4. He’s seen performing a stunning cover of the 1992 anthem ‘One’, as well as 2000s ‘Elevation’, earning a standing ovation from all 4 U2 members.

Pointer Sisters', Anita Pointer, Dead at 74

The Pointer Sisters Anita Pointer, one of the group’s 4 sibling singers, died of cancer Saturday at 74. The Pointer Sisters are best-known for their 80s hits ‘I’m So Excited’, ‘Slow Hand’, ‘Neutron Dance’ and ‘Jump (For My Love)’.

Brian May Receives Special Honor

Queen guitarist Brian May was recognized in the 2023 New Year Honours List, a tradition celebrating the achievements and service of exceptional individuals from the UK. He received a knighthood for services to music and his charity work. May was made Commander of the Order of the British Empire in 2005.

Foo Fighters Push Forward Despite Loss

Foo Fighters issued a New Year’s Eve statement saying they will continue as a group following the death in March of drummer Taylor Hawkins. The statement read, in part: “Without Taylor, we never would have become the band that we were – and without Taylor, we know that we’re going to be a different band going forward.”
