Singers, do you think you have what it takes to WIN?
Join us at Fricker's in Richmond on June 11th and June 18th to see if you have what it takes to be our Wayne County Idol champion and take home a cash prize! Those who come to auditions and are selected to move on will go to Semi-Finals at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. After Semi-Finals, those who are chosen as Finalists will compete at the Finals Event on June 28th, where a panel of judges will pick one winner. Good luck, singers!
(Pre-registration closes June 17th at 12:00pm)
ADDITIONAL SUPPORT FROM RICHMOND ART MUSEUM
CONTESTANTS MUST BE 18 OR OLDER.
1. What happens at Auditions?
Contestants sing 30-seconds of their song of choice, acapella, in front of a judge panel at Fricker's for a chance at being selected for Semi-Finals. Contestants are judged, and Semi-Finalists are announced at the end of the night, around 8pm.
2. If I didn't get through Auditions at Fricker's on June 11th, can I try again at Auditions on June 18th?
Contestants may audition both nights if they do not go through on Night 1 (June 11). If you make it through to Semi-Finals on Night 1 of Auditions, it is unnecessary to come back again for round 2.
3. How do I prepare for Semi-Finals on June 25th?
Contestants must email three .mp3 song files to wcidol@kicks96.com before Monday, June 23rd at 3pm. One song should be their song of choice for Semi-Finals, one song will be for round 1 of Finals, and one song for round 2 of Finals night. On the night of Semi-Finals, if you are chosen as a Finalist, you must confirm your TWO Finals songs with our team before leaving for the night. Each song must be labeled accordingly.
EXAMPLE: 'FULL NAME, SEMI-FINALS.mp3'
'FULL NAME, SONG TITLE - FINALS1.mp3'
'FULL NAME, SONG TITLE - FINALS 2.mp3'
4. What songs should I choose for Semi-Finals or Finals?
Choose a song with a SHORT intro, that you're confident in! You have 90 seconds to sing during Semi-Finals and Round 1 of finals. The timer starts as soon as the .mp3 starts playing. If you choose a song with a long intro, you're missing out on performance time.
5. How do I get an .mp3 file to send?
Google might be your best friend here! We recommend finding a Youtube to mp3 converter online, if your song is coming from Youtube. The Radio Station will not be modifying or gathering songs for any contestants. What you send is what will play. It is important that you find the files for your three songs and send them to our email before the deadline of June 23.
6. How are contestants being scored?
Our judges will be judging contestants on stage presence, vocal ability, and entertainment value.
7. Why are there two rounds on Finals night?
Finalists will get 90-Seconds to perform their first song of choice, in Round 1 of Finals. There will be a brief intermission, followed by an elimination, and then we move on to the last group of performers. Round 2 Finalists will get to sing a FULL SONG. One winner will be chosen.
8. What should I wear?
Since video and photographs are taken during the event, copyright restrictions require participants not wear apparel or carry items with designer names, corporate or sports team names or logos, copyrighted images, celebrity names or images (living or dead), cartoon character images or messages/words that may be deemed inappropriate.
