(Richmond, IN)--The former Crain Sanitarium at the corner of 22nd and East Main in Richmond is now in major jeopardy. That property has drawn to attention of the city’s Unsafe Building Commission, which is ordering the owners of the structure to either fix it up or tear it down. And, that work must begin within 30 days. If that does not happen, the city could potentially step in and tear it down. At a recent hearing, inspectors cited a rotting porch and other major issues with the structure. The owner, Heaven Johnson, has not responded. She tried to pass herself off as a Beverly Hills designer several years ago with plans to fix it up. In reality, she had been convicted of fraud in multiple states and has used numerous aliases. The city’s law department is looking into the ramifications of a historic easement on the deed.
