FLOODING RECEDES; SOME ROADS REMAIN CLOSED

(Whitewater Valley)--Water is receding quickly after heavy amounts of rain fell Thursday.  Most areas received roughly 2 ½ inches of rain Thursday, but Eaton received an incredible 3.9 inches.  All that rain caused multiple road closures…some of which were still in effect Friday morning.  Abington Road in Wayne County is closed.  The Yankeetown Bridge in Union County is closed, and the south end of Pennville Road in Fayette County remains impassable.  Numerous other county roads remain closed.  Flooding was most extensive to the south.  In Brookville, the spot where two branches of the Whitewater River merge is usually at four feet.  Yesterday, it was at 15 ½ feet.
