(Richmond, IN)--One development was approved Monday night by Richmond Common Council while another was rejected. Council approved zoning for a residential development on Wernle Road just east of Forest Hills. That land was earmarked decades ago for a residential development. "It was sold to the Rapers. They were going to use it for other purposes, but it never developed. The road has just laid there without any houses," one person addressing the ordinance explained. Council also addressed a request for construction of a church on I-70 directly across from Highland Lake Golf Course. That ordinance was rejected 4-3. Those who voted against the ordinance cited a desire to keep the I-70 land available for commercial development.
