New Music Tuesday

(Author’s note: This will probably be a recurring feature, highlighting music we’re adding on The Point each week, plus maybe some other music tidbits…)

This week, we’re adding a new band and a newish band to our music playlist.

First up is Zipper Club, out of Los Angeles, made up of a couple of seasoned musicians, Lissy Trullie and Mason James. The song is called Going Distance.  Their first album is produced by James Iha of Smashing Pumpkins, and it kind of has that 90's alterna-pop sound and feel.  It seems to have come out of nowhere, and I think you’re going to be hearing it in lots of places very soon. It’s best experienced with the windows down in the car, and the volume up. The video is a bit weird.

Next up is the latest single from Canadian band MAGIC! This is the second single off their album Primary Colours, which came out in July. (That's not a typo, they're Canadian, and spell "color" with a u.)   Red Dress is the follow-up to Lay You Down Easy, and continues in that sort of reggae-pop sound, just like their other hits, including Rude.  My favorite thing about this song is actually the video, which celebrates women of all shapes, sizes and colors.

So that’s it for this week!

Here are some songs we’re looking at for next week, take a listen and let us know what you think!

OneRepublic, Kids

Passenger, Somebody's Love
