(Richmond, IN)--A sprinkler malfunction that was likely brought about by cold temperatures has caused major damage to a historic Uptown Richmond building. City officials and other crews spent much of Thursday in the Knollenberg’s building. Water was pouring from pipes for an estimated 48 hours before it was discovered. Friday morning, orange tags were outside the building signifying that it cannot be occupied. There is currently no heat or electricity. The city will work with the building’s owner with clean-up efforts.
